Nikon D60 Lenses Compatibility

Thursday, June 26, 2008

A little known fact about the new Nikon D60 is that it doesn't have an built-in focus drive motor which means it can auto focus only with lenses which have their own drive motor (AF-S and AF-I lenses). This same thing can be in the Nikon D40 and Nikon D40x. However, the Nikon D60 has a new features, which is an electronic rangefinder to help manual focus on non AF-S / AF-I lenses.

The guys over at ShutterAsia has generously shared with all it's forumers on the list of compatible lenses that can be used with the Nikon D40/40x/60. They have also posted a link from Digital Photography Review on the list of the compatible lenses that can be used. The links to both the sites can be viewed below.

I am sure the list above is very helpful to all the Nikon D40/40x/60 users. For the benefit of those who are unable to view the above links for some reason, I have reproduced the link below for all.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park

Monday, June 23, 2008

Last weekend (22 June 2008), I tagged along my girlfriend and her colleagues for an outing at the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. They were there for a team outing and I tagged along hoping to get some exposure on my photography skills.

I went there armed with my Nikon D60 and the 18-55mm kit lenses. I knew from the start I would come back a disappointed man. Why disappointed you ask? I know for a fact that my 18-55mm kit lenses would not be sufficient enough to take good photos, especially of those birds located quite far away. Anyway, I decided to just go along and take some shots, hoping to get a few good shots.

Here are some of the nicer shots that I managed to get on that day.

::: Main Entrance :::

::: Love Bird cleaning itself :::

::: Hi there :::

::: Handsome looking fella :::

::: Too far to get a nice closeup of the peacock :::

::: Parrots cleaning each other :::

::: Eagle :::

::: Owls :::

::: Eagle. I took this shot thru the wire mesh. I had to manual focus on the eagle and use a wide aperture to blur the wire mesh of the cage :::

::: Waterfall :::

::: Full view of the artificial waterfall created within the KL Bird Park :::

::: Forgot the name of this bird :::

::: Colourful bird :::

::: Goodbye :::

More pictures can be viewed on my multiply site. The link to the album is as given below
